Nigeria: Boko Haram In Positive Dialogue With FG


Boko Haram now in positive talk with the Federal Government. According to reports coming from National Security Adviser to the president, talks between the two sides seems to be going on smoothly.

Boko Haram has been asked to lay down their arms but the sect is insisting that their members should be released from prison and security operatives should stop arresting their members in return. Gen. Azazi, NSA to the president engaged the sect in a dialogue in early February with the number 2 and 3 members of the islamic sect been present.

However, to this request Gen. Azazi refused but assured the men of the boko haram that while the arrest will continue, the safety of their men will be assured in custody. The two men representing the boko haram agreed to hold fire on major attacks for eight days between February 10 to February 18.

The sect representative also stated that they were impressed by Azazi. They went on to say that “He did not try to be funny. He was very good to us. He was like a good moslem“, he continued. He added that he had to place calls to their spiritual leader in Sudan to impress on him of the manner they were treated by the NSA to the President.

Source to boko haram also stated that thought the deadline has passed, talks are still on going but did not disclose the details of the discussions with the NSA but assured that the dialogue has been positive.
